The Parting Line
Every relationship—romantic, platonic, or otherwise—eventually comes to an end. Endings are rarely easy, but you don’t have to go through them alone.
Grieving a future you wish you could have had with your ex? Struggling to process the end of a friendship? Trying to accept the idea of not being the right person?
Maybe you’ll find yourself aboard the Parting Line. Piloted by its eccentric conductor, the Parting Line is a train that appears only to those that need it. Here, you’ll have space to grapple with your feelings—and to help others do the same.
The Parting Line is a horde LARP for 4–10 people about the many ways relationships come to an end. Players may play one character for the entire game or switch out their characters at every train stop. It's a game about processing feelings with others, by yourself, and through art.
It was written by me, Mehitabel Glenhaber, Rox Sayde, and Esa Sclafani (collectively, Zaglossus bruijni) for the Iron GM competition at Intercon W, in which it placed second. We'll be running in various places including at Be-Con 2025.
